Full Name:     Peter Higgins

Please detail Date of appointment, Term of office and date of standing down (where applicable) and who you were appointed by.

I have been a Governor at Brentwood now for nearly 17 years. I was approached by the head at the time Colin Oxley to stand as a parent Governor because my son was a pupil at Brentwood.

Can you tell us something about yourself and what strengths you bring to the governing body? Include occupation and background if relevant.

I have always been involved as a manager of a manufacturing team in the decision making process and feel I can contribute in Personnel and Health and Safety matters. I care about all the Staff and students at Brentwood and strive to make sure they only have the best.

Do you have any relevant business or pecuniary interests? Are you a governor in another education institution?

I am currently a Governor at Blessed Thomas Holford Catholic College for the last 10 years and a Foster Carer for the last three years.

Do you have any material interests arising from relationships between governors or relationships between governors and school staff?

Why did you want to be a governor at Brentwood?

I always wanted to give something back to Brentwood and be involved with decisions on how my son and his fellow pupils were being educated. But take note once you are a part of the Brentwood family it’s very hard to walk away, it becomes part of your life, a special part.

What impact has being a governor at Brentwood had on you?

I have always been very proud to be a governor at Brentwood and have made some really good friendships along the way with Staff, Parents, Trafford Education authority and most importantly the children. This is a role that I have always enjoyed, this is my extended family.
