A3 – careers – running a cafe
This term, A3 have worked on setting up a cafe in the classroom as part of the careers curriculum. Students get the equipment they need (toaster, kettle, tablecloths etc.), set the tables, hand out the menus and explore the different drinks and snacks on offer.
Students have ordered what they would like to eat and drink, prepared each other’s orders and then sat down at the table together to enjoy their snack and drink. It has been a great opportunity to develop communication and social skills, functional independence skills and even some problem solving. The only part that no-one is too keen on is washing and drying the pots at the end of the session but it does get done eventually!
